Studio Ghibli’s new film “The Boy and the Heron” is said to be legendary director Hayao Miyazaki’s final film. It’s also his first film in a decade. So far, “The Boy and The Heron” has only been released in Japan, and currently, some of its trailers or images have been released worldwide.
At first, the title of this film was “How Do You Live?” but then Studio Ghibli changed it to “The Boy and The Heron” which was adapted from the 1937 novel of the same name although the film has its own original story.

From several pictures and footage that have appeared on the internet, this film is identical to Miyazaki’s film. With its vast green landscape and blue sky, some of the surreal imagery is striking like a crane with human teeth, to a giant floating rock, even a flock of colorful birds flying through the air.
For now, it is not yet known when “The Boy and The Heron” will air internationally. The film is announced to hit American theaters later this year thanks to distributor GKIDS. However, plans for a UK release have yet to be confirmed.
Some of these images from “The Boy and The Heron” have been shared by the movie ticketing site Fandango on twitter who features one of the great animators of all time for what may be his final film.
