
China released new regulations for contents generated by Artificial Intelligent (AI) on August 19th. This release of new rules for AI-generated content aims to maintain firm censorship on online content while the country is still in the AI development race.
The Artificial Intelligent (AI) industry has developed so much these past years. The result of contents generated by AI can be in the form of text, voice, pictures, video, or even video mimicking human’s speech and facial expressions.
The latest invention of the AI-generated content is called ‘deepfake’. The AI-based technology was released by United State’s company, OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Deepfake allows you to make videos, or some kind of camera filters, showing people speak things they actually never said. This kind of advancement of the AI industry has gone so far, to the point where there are a lot of people that use AI technologies for disinformation and disuse all across the nations.
However, there are Chinese companies that dispose in making similar AI-generated content as the deepfake. That’s why China dropped new regulations for the release of AI-generated content. China has dropped 24 rules as the draft of strict regulations regarding the AI technology. The key points of the regulations aim for the service of the general public.

The first rule of the new regulations is to “adhere to the core values of socialism”. This rule organizes the restriction of actions that might threaten the safety of socialism security, such as promoting terrorism, violence, ethnic, gender, or age discrimination, hate speech, and many more.
The second main regulation is to measure the users’ age in using the AI-based technology. This rule organizes the prevention of underage users on using AI technology so the technology can be used wisely with full consciousness by the user.
China’s government supports the competition of AI technology race across the nation. But the release and the use of the technology should be regulated too for the sake of the people’s safety in using the technology.
