Bingkai Karya – At the beginning of 2025, precisely on February 14, 2025, Judika Sihotang, better known as Judika, released his latest single, “Andai Sampai Akhir Usia” (If Until the End of Time), a heartfelt collaboration with Indonesian music legend Pay Burman. “I chose Bang Pay because I have always admired his musical arrangements. He is also known for his signature guitar playing style,” Judika shared when asked about his collaboration with Pay Burman.
The song, written by Yudi Hendra Rahim, a relatively new songwriter in the Indonesian music industry, tells a deeply emotional story about wishing to stay with a loved one forever, without ever having to say goodbye. The song is based on a true story from Yudi Hendra’s life. “This song is a reflection of my own experience. I was sued for divorce twice in religious court, and in 2021, with a heavy heart, tears, and regret, I finally granted my ex-wife’s request to separate,” Yudi Hendra Rahim revealed when asked about the inspiration behind the song.
Originally written in 2019, the song was beautifully arranged by Pay Burman Siburian. In an interview, the renowned music producer, arranger, and songwriter expressed his interest in arranging “Andai Sampai Akhir Usia” due to its simple yet captivating melody. He also mentioned his previous collaborations with Judika as another reason for his involvement in the project. Pay Burman decided to arrange the song in a minimalist style, without using drums. “Judika’s vast experience in expressing various emotions through songs is what makes ‘Andai Sampai Akhir Usia’ so powerful,” explained Pay Burman.
In Indonesia, it is rare for songs to last more than 5 minutes, yet “Andai Sampai Akhir Usia” runs for 5 minutes and 10 seconds. When asked about this, Pay Burman stated, “In today’s era, songs are no longer restricted by duration. People are free to choose which parts they enjoy the most.”
At the end of the interview, Pay Burman shared his excitement about working with Judika again, saying, “It’s been a long time since our last collaboration, and it feels great to finally work together again.”
Judika also explained why he chose to maintain the longer duration for the song, saying, “Since I’m collaborating with one of Indonesia’s finest guitarists, Bang Pay Burman, it would be a waste not to fully showcase his incredible fingerpicking skills. The harmonization between the music and the song itself needed the right space for the arrangement to shine.” Judika further highlighted that his favorite part of the song is the closing lyrics:
“I want you to always be with me forever, until the end of time.”
