Bingkai Karya – Vernon EDU, through its Communication Department, proudly presents the VernonEdu Story Telling Competition 2026, a competition designed to nurture children’s confidence, creativity, and communication skills from an early age. The event will take place on June 7, 2026, at Nakoa Social Space, Malang, and is open to participants in two age categories: 7–9 years old and 10–12 years old.
The competition is inspired by the spirit of Malang as a creative city that continuously gives rise to talented young individuals across various fields. As an institution with diverse departments focused on personal and skill development, Vernon EDU aims to become a bridge, a learning companion, and a platform where young talents can express their creativity and continuously improve their abilities. Through its Communication Department, Vernon EDU seeks to create a meaningful space for children to showcase their potential through storytelling.
The Importance of Early Communication Skills
Tanti, Communication Department Leader at Vernon EDU, explained, “Storytelling is one of the essential communication skills that should be developed from an early age. This ability is not only valuable for those aspiring to pursue public speaking-related careers such as MCs, presenters, podcasters, or other communication professions, but it is also an important life skill. Through storytelling, children learn how to express their thoughts and emotions, develop intrapersonal and interpersonal communication, and interact more effectively within groups.”
This competition also reflects Vernon EDU’s vision and mission to build character, shape mindset, and strengthen communication skills among the younger generation. Vernon EDU believes that effective communication is not solely about speaking well but also about listening with empathy. The principle of “a good speaker is a good listener” is one of the core values the institution hopes to instill in participants from an early age. By cultivating a culture of listening and being heard, children are expected to grow into communicative, confident, and empathetic individuals.
Assessment Criteria and Public Enthusiasm
The Story Telling Competition 2026 will evaluate participants based on several key aspects, including:
- Expression and emotional delivery
- Articulation and vocal quality
- Self-confidence
- Stage presence
- Creativity in storytelling delivery
Through these assessment criteria, participants are expected not only to perform well on stage but also to develop communication skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Public enthusiasm for talent development programs for children continues to grow. For many parents, competitions like this are not merely about winning but also about providing opportunities for children to build confidence, strengthen their mentality, gain experience performing before larger audiences, and discover their own potential. The event also serves as an inspiring space where children can connect and learn from peers who share similar interests and talents.
Technical Innovation and Future Plans
More than just a competition, Vernon EDU aims to introduce participants to a broader perspective on storytelling. Storytelling is not limited to fairy tales or long narratives; it can also be delivered concisely through the Adlips Speakingtechnique, which focuses on presenting a message or communication theme in a focused, effective, and engaging way. This approach is expected to help children understand that storytelling skills can be applied in various aspects of everyday life.
Tanti added, “Moving forward, Vernon EDU plans to develop similar competitions into an ongoing series with broader participant categories ranging from elementary school, junior high school, senior high school students, to university students. Future competitions will also be available in both Indonesian and English and will include individual and group categories.”
Through the Story Telling Competition 2026, Vernon EDU hopes to become a trusted companion in participants’ journey of developing communication skills. Furthermore, the initiative aims to contribute to building a healthy communication culture, encouraging confidence in public performance, promoting sportsmanship, and strengthening empathy among younger generations. Ultimately, this competition is intended not only as an event but also as part of a broader effort to shape a more communicative, creative, and character-driven future for education in Indonesia.
