Bingkai Karya – Young singer Elsa Japasal once again lends her melodious voice to Indonesia’s music scene with the release of her second single, “Buku Karangan,” arriving at the end of the year on December 17, 2025. The song marks a continuation of Elsa’s musical journey following her debut single, “Pernah Dicinta.”
Through this new release, Elsa Japasal also aims to showcase a broader exploration of her vocal range. “Buku Karangan” remains rooted in the pop genre, a space where Elsa feels comfortable and able to express herself fully. Even so, the singer, born on November 14, 2001, remains open to exploring other genres in the future to further expand her musical horizons.
When Love Exists Only in Imagination
Written by Bagas Ran, “Buku Karangan” was chosen as Elsa’s latest single because of how closely it reflects her personal experiences. The song tells the story of having feelings for someone who is ultimately out of reach, a one sided love that continues even when it is clear from the beginning that it will never truly happen. It is beautiful, yet it exists only in imagination. Like a vividly written story in one’s mind, the reality beneath it is quietly painful. From this contrast between hope and reality, the title “Buku Karangan” was born.
The biggest challenge in producing this song came from Elsa’s tight schedule, as she was simultaneously preparing for a film shoot. Vocally, the song also demands deeper exploration compared to her first single. Fortunately, the process was supported by Kamga as vocal director, who continuously guided Elsa in fully exploring and maximizing her vocal potential.
A Song for Letting Go
Through “Buku Karangan,” Elsa hopes the song can become a companion for listeners who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, unrequited love. While such feelings may feel beautiful, the song carries a reminder that they exist only in imagination, and that eventually one must return to reality. This message is woven subtly through the song’s lyrics.
So far, Elsa’s musical journey has felt enjoyable and fulfilling, including her recognition as part of Spotify RADAR Indonesia 2025. What began as a hobby has now grown into a professional career, an experience she finds both valuable and challenging.
