BINUS Business Schools from Various Cities Collaborated in the 2023 Multisite International Summer Camp (MISC) Program

BINUS Business School International Undergraduate Program (IUP) and Undergraduate Program (UP) held a Multisite International Summer Camp (MISC) on 19-29 July 2023 with the theme ‘Journey to Sustainability’. This event was carried out with visits to several BINUS campuses in Senayan – Jakarta, Bekasi, Alam Sutra, Bandung, Semarang and Malang.

The entire series of events carried out is a collaboration between BINUS Business School, especially the International Business and Business Management & Marketing (Senayan), Creativepreneurship (Bandung), Digital Business (Semarang), Entrepreneurship & Business Creation (Malang) programs.

MISC 2023 held for the first time this year succeeded in attracting 30 students from various countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, Germany, South Korea, China, to the United States.

This activity was held to introduce Indonesian culture, gain knowledge about business, technology and sustainable management, as well as collaborate with students from various countries.

By prioritizing the concept of holistic learning, the participants not only gain knowledge in the classroom, but can also experience things, from making batik, cooking Indonesian food, and visiting various places that will enrich their experiences and tastes about Indonesian culture.

Students also have the opportunity to visit Apple Academy and several leading companies in Indonesia such as ParagonCorp, PT Mass Rapid Transportation (MRT) Indonesia, and Eiger Indonesia, as well as museums and cultural places in the cities they visited.

For activities in Malang, international students gained experience related to cultural heritage and ecotourism on 27-29 July 2023. The participants were invited to explore the tourism village of Poncokusumo, in Wringinanom and Gubugklakah to be precise.

Students also interact directly with residents and experience visiting cultural houses to learn about gamelan arts and traditional dance arts, participating in education on the use of water hyacinth for footwear products, visiting watercress agro-tourism, river tubing, and exploring the Bromo Tengger Semeru ecotourism area.

International summer camp participants live in homestays in Koena Village. Based on the experience of two days and two nights interacting and exploring tourism in Poncokusumo, students are invited to take part in the Cultural Heritage and Sustainability Workshop at the BINUS@Malang campus.

Etsa Astridya Setiyati, SE., PGDipBus, M.Com as the Head of Entrepreneurship Business Creation Department expressed hope that this activity could give a deep positive impression on the Indonesian state. Not only that, international summer camp participants are expected to get to know the noble culture that exists in Indonesia, and learn to understand various methods for maintaining the sustainability of the business and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
