Giovanni Rahmadeva and Christabel Annora (Ista) once again blended their voices in their latest duet single titled “That’s All.” This song marks their memorable journey after two years since releasing their previous piano-infused folk single. In “That’s All,” Ista takes on the role of the main lyricist, portraying the willingness to celebrate things that can no longer be united.
Initially, “That’s All” emerged from a playful whim and as a continuation of the success of their previous single, “Come & Go.” Ista, who was thrilled with the positive response from listeners to their previous collaboration, joyfully sent several song demos to Deva. Their creative process proved effective as the blueprint for the song “That’s All” was quickly responded to by Deva via voice notes, adding melodic and lyrical ideas that enriched the song.
Interestingly, even though they had previously only worked virtually and hadn’t met in person, both Deva and Ista felt a strong connection in their collaboration. In their songwriting process, Deva found that Ista was able to grasp the essence of the songs they created together, even without direct face-to-face interaction. They frequently exchanged opinions through voice notes, creating a harmony that enriched their songs.
Deva recounted that the song “That’s All” carried a sense of closure for their previous single, with a somber tone reflecting melancholic themes. However, the challenge this time was to transform it into a signature for both singers. Deva also revealed that their collaboration didn’t stop at recording; it extended to visual creativity, such as designing the artwork before immersing themselves in serious recording sessions.
Moving forward, Deva and Ista plan to continue their collaboration in this duet project. Despite their engagements outside of the music world, they aren’t rushing and want to savor the process. Plans for touring or promotions in various places remain future aspirations that will come gradually. With enthusiasm and eagerness, they wish to explore this new musical territory with patience. This project also has the potential to lay the foundation for an EP if circumstances and timing allow. (https://www.cookwarejunkies.com)
