Bingkai Karya — After more than a decade since her debut, Fatin Shidqia, known for her distinctive voice and warm personality, finally returns with a remarkable new project. Through her latest album, “Cerita Kita (Our Story)”, the first-season winner of X Factor Indonesia opens a new chapter in her musical journey one that feels more mature, honest, and deeply personal.
Marking 12 years since her debut album For You (2013), the self-professed lover of pink and sea blue admits that the long gap between albums came from her divided focus and tendency to get easily distracted while searching for song writing ideas. “It’s nerve-racking to finally release my second album in 2025, but I’m also so grateful and happy to still be surrounded by fans who keep asking about my new music. That means so much to me and really motivates me to keep creating,” she shared.
For Fatin, this second album is extra special because she was fully involved in its making. Although the process took quite some time, she feels it helped her grow tremendously as an artist. Unlike her first album, where she simply came in to record, this time she learned to write lyrics, explore melodies, and take part directly in the creative process. “There are 12 songs in total on this album. Some are brand-new, while others are older tracks that I decided to include as a reminder that this is my first body of work where I actually learned to write songs, with the help of other amazing musicians,” she explained.
One of the highlights of “Cerita Kita” is the song “Red Flag.” “After all this time, I finally had the courage to write a song entirely in English. I wrote all the lyrics myself, and the melody was crafted with the help of Kak Kamga and Kak Kevin,” Fatin said. The song tells a story that many can relate to — about someone who knows their partner is a red flag but can’t seem to walk away. “It’s a complicated love story, but one that feels very real,” she added with a smile.
Speaking about the album’s creative journey, Fatin admitted that the biggest challenge was staying focused and productive. “The hardest part was honestly battling myself pushing to stay on track and keep creating and I’m still learning how to convey my feelings in a way that truly reaches my listeners,” she revealed. For this communication graduate, that emotional connection is what makes music meaningful. “Cerita Kita”, she said, is more than just a collection of songs; it’s a reflection of her life’s different phases, and a promise she finally managed to fulfill. “This second album is a promise that’s finally been paid in full. I’m beyond grateful for everyone who’s patiently waited for me and supported my journey all this time. Thank you for being with me through it all I love you guys so much!” she said excitedly.
Fatin also hopes the album can be a companion for anyone who listens to it. “I want these songs to accompany you through every phase of your life. We’re not always in our butterfly era there are sad moments too. But believe me, those feelings don’t last forever, and happiness always finds its way back. Cerita Kita isn’t just about me, it’s about us our shared emotions and stories,” she concluded warmly.
