Bingkai Karya  — Ten years is a milestone worth celebrating for everyone, including Kunto Aji

In the final quarter of 2025, his debut album ‘Generation Y’ marks its tenth anniversary. Released in 2015, the album became a solid foundation for his journey as a musician.

This decade-long celebration comes with a new single titled “2025 Masih Asik Sendiri (Still Enjoying Solitude in 2025)”, a reimagined version of “Terlalu Lama Sendiri”, one of the defining tracks from ‘Generation Y’.

“When you celebrate something, there’s always something you want to express. Creating a brand-new work didn’t feel possible at the moment, so the most reasonable thing to do was to rework what already existed starting with one of the album’s most iconic songs, giving it a new arrangement and flavor,” Kunto Aji shared.

That “new flavor,” he explained, also comes from a shift in meaning compared to the original.

“Masih Asik Sendiri” gives space for everyone to interpret it in their own way. If it’s a question, it’s the kind of question that makes people turn around and reflect that each person can find their own understanding of life through it,” he continued.

Amid the noise of everyday life, Kunto Aji places “2025 Masih Asik Sendiri” as a reminder for us to pause and find meaning in the things around us from what’s closest to us, to the sky above where we breathe each day.

As an artist, he also finds himself questioning, “What else should I be doing in a world like this?” There are, of course, many possible answers and hope is one of them.
He added, “Lately I’ve been learning a lot about the realities and spirituality of life. Hope is incredibly important, it’s our only anchor. We’ve grown used to being in survival mode, and more than ever, we need that glimmer of hope at the end of the road.”

Interestingly, while preparing to release “2025 Masih Asik Sendiri”, Kunto Aji took an unconventional path. While most musicians eagerly promote their new work, he decided to take a break from social media, handing over control of his platforms to his management team.

“It was actually my management’s idea they wanted to take over my social media. I found that interesting, because it meant they had something to say, a plan for how to use that space. I wanted to see what it would feel like to let them speak, to let others be part of the story between the musician and his work. It humanizes us all; it shows that this is not just about me, but about a big ship with many people on board,” he explained.

And that ship keeps sailing, navigating deeper seas. 2025 Masih Asik Sendiri marks a new course one that will eventually lead to other destinations. But for now, let’s celebrate what’s right in front of us.
