Bingkai Karya – Putri Sashi (Musica Studios) collaborates with Janita Gabriela (Sony Music) to present a new interpretation of the legendary song “Merindukanmu.” Previously popularized by the band D’MASIV, the song becomes a special collaboration project between Musica Studios and Sony Music, bringing together two female singers with soft vocal characters in one remarkable musical work.
The initial idea for releasing this song came from a meeting between Musica Studios and Sony Music, where both parties discussed the opportunity to reintroduce Indonesian hit songs with a fresh approach. From that discussion, the idea emerged to revive “Merindukanmu.” The song was then proposed as a project because it has long been deeply embedded in the hearts of listeners.
For Janita Gabriela, the song carries a very personal meaning. She revealed that “Merindukanmu” has been one of her favorite songs since childhood. Beyond telling a love story, the song also represents her longing for the people closest to her who hold an important place in her life, including memories of her beloved grandmother.
Meanwhile, Putri Sashi believes the song has deeply touching lyrics that resonate with many people. “This song tells a deep love story that many people can relate to. Through this version, we want to once again represent the feelings of listeners who have experienced the kind of longing portrayed in this song,” said Putri.
This collaboration also marks the first duet between Putri Sashi and Janita Gabriela. The process of bringing them together began when each of them received the song material along with the new arrangement. After listening to the prepared concept, they began the production process at the Sony Music recording studio.
For the vocal recording session, the process was carried out intensively. Putri also shared that she was immediately impressed by Janita’s vocal ability the first time she heard it.
“I really love her voice. After we talked, I realized she’s also a very pleasant person, so our chemistry formed very quickly,” Putri said.
Janita also felt that the collaboration process was a very enjoyable experience. According to her, blending her vocal character with Putri’s felt very comfortable because of Putri’s soft vocal tone, allowing their harmonies to blend naturally.
Performing a song that is already very popular certainly comes with its own challenges. “Merindukanmu” has long been strongly associated with the original version by D’MASIV, so both singers felt the need to bring a new touch without losing the essence of the song.
In this version, “Merindukanmu” is presented with a fresher and more modern acoustic arrangement, complete with various melodic improvisations that enrich the song’s dynamics. The combination of their soft vocal characters also creates a different nuance compared to the original version.
Through this single, Putri Sashi and Janita Gabriela hope that “Merindukanmu” will still deliver the same powerful emotions as the original song.
“We hope this song continues to reach listeners and touch many hearts,” said Putri.
Janita also hopes that this new version will be well received by the public and become a favorite among Indonesian music lovers.
