Bingkai Karya – Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026, Wijaya 80 and Sal Priadi release their collaborative single titled “Bulan Bintang, Garis Menyilang.” The song tells a story of love, drawn from an interfaith relationship and the courage to endure despite differences.
Written collectively by Wijaya 80 members, Ardhito Pramono, Erikson Jayanto, and Hezky Joe, alongside Sal Priadi, the song opens with spiritually nuanced melodies and strikingly contrasting lyrics: “That little cross necklace / you don’t have to hide it / when you meet my family.”
The premise itself is inspired by a real-life story experienced by one of the Wijaya 80 members. According to Erikson Jayanto, who also serves as the producer, among the songs they created together, this one resonates the most emotionally, especially with Sal.
“Sal was deeply moved by this song. He really pushed for this track to become our collaborative project,” Erikson shared. “For some reason, he didn’t want to let this one go, and we all agreed.”
“Bulan Bintang, Garis Menyilang” goes beyond portraying the tragic side of love shaped by differences. According to Ardhito, who has experienced a similar situation, the song is important because it explores a theme that remains unresolved and needs deeper understanding.
“Over time, it feels like we’ve always encountered this issue,” said Ardhito. “Ironically, there’s nothing much we can do except accept it.”
This collaboration blends Wijaya 80’s signature classic Indonesian pop nuances with Sal Priadi’s poetic and contemporary lyricism, offering a deeper reflection, where love, often divided by rules, is hoped to meet at a single point.
Hezky Joe, who personally relates to the story behind the song, added that this collaboration also serves as a space to question the boundaries of differences. This is reflected in the lyrics:
“God / would You still accept / two souls of different faiths / whose paths may not be the same?”
“The question becomes, why do humans have to be restricted by such rules? If we look back, interfaith love hasn’t always been a problem,” Hezky expressed.
Releasing “Bulan Bintang, Garis Menyilang” during Eid is no coincidence. According to Hezky, the song can accompany listeners in celebrating love.
“It feels like many people will relate, when two people love each other but must celebrate God’s love on different holidays,” he explained.
Sal added that although the song was initially prepared for Christmas, it felt more meaningful to release it sooner, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
“It feels like someday, this festive moment should be celebrated together.”
“We know that holidays are often when couples meet each other’s extended families. This song is meant to be an introduction, a companion, for couples from different backgrounds in celebrating this day filled with God’s love,” Sal continued.
He hopes the song will be widely embraced, just like interfaith love, which ideally should not be questioned, but welcomed during moments of celebration.
According to Erikson, this release marks the beginning of future collaborations between Wijaya 80 and Sal Priadi.
“We’re definitely hoping for more stages ahead and more projects together with Sal,” he concluded.
“Bulan Bintang, Garis Menyilang” is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
