“Jangan Tunggu Lama-Lama” was first released by Cici Faramida in 1995 and has become one of the most enduring dangdut songs in the hearts of its listeners. With simple, catchy, and relatable lyrics about waiting for the certainty of love, in early 2026, the song became popular again on TikTok and various social media platforms, featuring remixes, koplo covers, dance challenges, and nostalgic content.
This comeback also demonstrates how the legacy dangdut music catalog now has a ‘second life’ thanks to social media algorithms. Old songs that once thrived on radio and television are now booming again through TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Interestingly, the remake of “Jangan Tunggu Lama-Lama (2026)” isn’t just a re-enactment of the song, but also a creative reunion. After 27 years since the video for “Wulan Merindu”, Cici Faramida has reunited with Rizal Mantovani as director and Ari Tulang as choreographer for her latest music video. “Basically, we’re reminiscing…like a reunion, everyone is still together like they used to be,” said Cici. This collaboration evokes a deep sense of nostalgia, while also demonstrating how their chemistry remains strong to this day.
Rizal Mantovani’s return is an emotional moment, as he was known as the king of music videos in the 90s and early 2000s, with his music visuals that shaped Indonesian pop culture at the time.
Ari Tulang’s return also reinforces the nostalgic element. Their previous collaboration on “Wulan Merindu” resulted in a particularly memorable dance move, which earned him the 2000 Indonesian Music Video award for ‘Best Choreography’.
