Unlike his previous album, ‘Puting Beliung’, which focused more on introducing and elevating talents from Anti Nrml, this time TENXI chose to tell more about himself. However, he’s not just a musician, but also a producer who has worked mostly behind the scenes.
What makes this album unique is the use of football as a common thread connecting the entire story. This isn’t because TENXI is a football athlete, but because he sees many similarities between a person’s life journey and the journey to the highest level in the world of football.
In football, there’s a long process before someone can play on the biggest stage. There’s training, failure, pressure, competition, hard work, and finally, the moment when the big opportunity finally comes. According to TENXI, the same thing happens in life and his creative journey. Therefore, many of the lyrics on this album use football terms, metaphors, and references as a way to relate the various experiences he has been through.
TENXI’s love of football is also the reason why this album was deliberately released close to the 2026 World Cup. For TENXI, this moment was the perfect time to introduce a work that draws heavily from the spirit, language, and culture of football.
“Actually, this isn’t an album about football. It’s an album about my life journey. But I feel like football is the most fitting metaphor to describe that journey. There’s a process, there’s competition, there are moments of losing, there are moments of winning, and everything requires consistency. That’s why I included a lot of football terms and references in this album,” said TENXI.
Besides being his most personal album, ‘Liga Besar’ also serves as TENXI’s appreciation for Indonesian music producers. He believes the role of producers is often overlooked, despite their significant contribution to shaping the identity of a musical work.
Based on this concern, TENXI wants to make ‘Liga Besar’ a larger space for the producers and creators involved. He wants to show that a musical work is born from the collaboration of many people, not just the person standing in front of the stage. This passion is reflected in the many local musicians, producers, and creators involved in this album.
Names such as Jemsii, Joshua Natanael, qioo, dia, concerto, mino, Fakie Funk, Kenz, Alva Gracia, Kirohta, bunnyisreal, Almarhyung, and Yung Caters also add color to this project. Of all the songs, TENXI highlights two songs as the main focus tracks.
“Makasih Tuhan” is a song that represents gratitude for the entire process. This song speaks of the journey, life lessons, and various achievements that are inseparable from the intervention of God and the people around us.
Meanwhile, “Liga Besar” is the song that best represents the album’s overall concept. Through various soccer metaphors, this song depicts a person’s struggle to pursue a dream, persevere through various challenges, and continue to grow until they reach a higher point in their life.
With a combination of personal stories, a unique conceptual approach, and collaborations with local musicians and producers, “Liga Besar” is a work that speaks not only of achievement, but also of the long process that must be undertaken to reach that point.
