Bingkai Karya – Young singer ERN introduces her latest single, “YOWES,” a song about reaching the point where someone finally chooses to say, “ah, ya sudah,” after being caught in a confusing relationship. The single takes its title from the Javanese word “yowes,” meaning “alright” or “so be it,” reflecting an attitude of surrendering to circumstances and making peace with what cannot be changed.
Rather than framing letting go as a purely melancholic experience, “YOWES” carries a light and danceable spirit. ERN created the song as a companion for listeners who have experienced being left hanging, ghosted, abandoned, or simply grown tired of waiting for someone to provide clarity. Through its relatable message, the song encourages listeners to recognize that they deserve better and to start choosing themselves.
The single marks ERN’s first songwriting experience with Raa, Rai, Anka, and Wizi. Her involvement in the writing process was important in allowing her to bring her own identity and musical ideals into the song. The creative process also reflects her musical influences, including Ariana Grande, SZA, Laufey, Tori Kelly, Kelly Clarkson, and Jacob Collier, while exploring her interest in R&B and pop.
For ERN, the central message of “YOWES” is rooted in a simple but familiar realization: not every unanswered question needs to be pursued forever. “Harapanku, ketika teman-teman mendengarkan YOWES, terutama saat digosting atau ditinggalkan, mereka bisa merasa, ‘Ah, ya udahlah, masih banyak ikan di laut,’” says ERN. She adds, “Kalau kalian sedang bingung menghadapi seseorang, dengarkan saja YOWES. Kalian deserve better.”
The title itself also represents a new exploration for ERN as she brings a local linguistic touch into her music. Her stage name, ERN, comes from her real name and carries a personal meaning as an abbreviation derived from her parents’ names. Originally known as Erna, she later simplified the name to ERN as the identity she carries as a musician.
With music production by RAW Music, vocal direction by Kamga, and mixing and mastering by Ivan Gojaya at ROEMAHIPONK, “YOWES” brings together a team of established music professionals. The track was composed by Rayi Putra, Ankadiov, Wizzy, and Ern Myra Wahyu Arsylia and published by Sony Music Publishing Indonesia.
