“Meg 2: The Trench” is a continuation of the story of Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham), a former marine who becomes a diver. This film is a sequel to “The Meg (2018)” and takes several years from the first film story. Various changes began to happen in Jonas’s life and the people around him, such as the emergence of another megalodon shark, and the fate of Suyin Zhang.

- Related to the first movie
This movie continues the events of the first film when Jonas Taylor confronts the megalodon or meg shark. At the end of the movie “The Meg”, Jonas and Suyin stopped the meg terror that killed many of their comrades. Jonas kills Meg with the wreckage of the submarine. However, the final scene of the movie shows that there is potential for another megalodon species to appear.
- Emergence of megalodon herds
In this movie, a new megalodon is shown after the first ancient shark was defeated by Jonas. The megalodon sharks are way bigger and even more, there are three sharks. Those megalodons were out from the Mariana trench and made terror on the beach. On the other side, Mana One catched one of the meg for further research.
- Jiuming as a new character
Jiuming is a new character in this movie. He is Suyin Zhang brother and Meiying’s uncle who showed up and got involved with Mana One. He’s very interested in oceanography like his sister and father. Jiuming is an important person involved behind the various innovations created at Mana One.

- The emergence of other underwater ancient species
Not only has the emergence of megalodons as threats to humans, there are also other ancient species that are shown from the Marian trench. The species are animals that look alike with predator dinosaurs that are able to live both in water and on land. Also, giant ancient octopus that came out from the Mariana trench and attacked humans on the sea coast.
