Bingkai Karya“Perahu Kertas” stands as one of Dee Lestari most beloved works, continuously reborn across formats for nearly two decades. First introduced as Indonesia’s earliest digital serial novel in 2007, it was published as a print book in 2008 before being adapted into the films Perahu Kertas 1 & 2 in 2012. The films also marked the birth of the iconic original soundtrack “Perahu Kertas,” performed by Maudy Ayunda, which went on to win Best Original Soundtrack at the 2012 Piala Maya Awards.

Fourteen years later, in late January 2026, “Perahu Kertas” enters a new chapter as a musical stage production presented by Trinity Optima Production and Indonesia Kaya. The journey does not stop there. As part of her upcoming third solo album, Dee Lestari, author of the original novel and screenplay finally lends her own voice to “Perahu Kertas,” a song she wrote fourteen years ago.

Revisiting a song with hundreds of millions of streams is no small challenge. To reintroduce the track with fresh perspective, Dee Lestari and her management team collaborated with renowned producer Petra Sihombing. Under his direction, “Perahu Kertas” is reborn with a bold and distinctive arrangement. Moving away from its original acoustic guitar foundation, the new version highlights electric guitar textures, delivering a more dynamic structure and heightened emotional climax. Vocal director Kamga Mo, who also contributes background vocals, enriches the arrangement with layered harmonies that add depth and dimension to the song.

This new rendition of “Perahu Kertas” feels mature and grand, while preserving the magic that has endeared it to listeners for years. Its enduring relevance reflects the universality of human journeys of chasing dreams, finding love, and discovering where the heart belongs experiences that transcend age and life stages.

Accompanied by a lyric video featuring interpretations from Dee Lestari’s readers, woven together with scenic footage from Gili Trawangan beach, the visual further emphasizes the beauty of human connection, from friendship to romance.

“Perahu Kertas” was released across all major streaming platforms on January 28, 2026, alongside its lyric video. The song serves as the second single from Dee Lestari’s forthcoming solo album, scheduled for release in mid 2026, reaffirming her position as one of Indonesia’s leading singer songwriters.
