A Moment of Reflection in the Digital Age – Perunggu Releases “Pikiran Yang Matang”

Bingkai Karya – Indonesian pop-rock band Perunggu officially released their third single, “Pikiran Yang Matang” independently via Podium Records on June 20, 2025, on all digital streaming platforms.

Following their earlier singles “Tapi” and “Berhasil,” which explored different musical styles, this new track returns to a more familiar sound for Perunggu. It also carries a reflective message that fits today’s digital era.

Drummer Ildo Hasman shared that choosing this single wasn’t a sudden decision but a mutual agreement among the band and their team. “It felt comfortable to listen to and play live,” Ildo said. “Even after recording, it remained one of the songs we were most satisfied with, so it felt right to release it now.”

In terms of arrangement, “Pikiran Yang Matang” is not far from the original demo. Producers Petra Sihombing and Enrico Octaviano played an important role in shaping the sound by adding vocal layers and instruments without losing the band’s signature rock feel. Ildo explained that the energy during recording was very natural—“we just went for it like Perunggu always does.”

What stands out most from this release is the lyrical content, written by guitarist-vocalist Maul Ibrahim. The lyrics were inspired by Ildo’s personal experience of taking a break from social media, which made him reflect deeply on its impact. He felt that social media often caused people to lose productivity by spending hours scrolling without purpose. Uninstalling the apps helped him reconnect with his surroundings, especially with family and physical activities.

The song captures the importance of taking a mental break from the constant flow of information that often brings stress and negativity. “Sometimes we spend too much time thinking about things we can’t control, and it makes us anxious. This song is a reminder to stay present and focus on the positives,” Ildo said.

Maul started writing the lyrics in early 2024 during his own journey of limiting social media use. He used to spend up to eight hours a day online, especially in the morning and late at night. Over time, he began managing his online habits by choosing to follow more useful accounts and avoiding negative content.

“It’s really about taking control. I still use social media, but now I manage it better. I search for what I need instead of just accepting whatever the algorithm gives me,” Maul shared.

Looking Ahead to the Full Album

Bassist Adam Adenan said “Pikiran Yang Matang” will likely be the final single before the band releases their second full-length album. Unlike the first album, this recording process was done gradually, fitting around their work schedules and live shows. He also noted the fresh energy the band felt, especially after releasing their previous singles. The song, he said, reflects the band’s thoughts about today’s social media-driven world.

“We recorded it bit by bit,” Adam said. “But once the song was done, we knew it should be the next single. It’s straightforward and honest.” He added, “God willing, this will be the last single before our next album.”

The single was recorded at Duapuluhtiga Studio in South Jakarta and Ubud, with Petra and Enrico also contributing to background vocals, keyboard, and synth. Mixing was handled by Stevano and mastering by Harmoko Aguswan, ensuring a well-polished final result.

With this new release, Perunggu continues to show their musical growth and thoughtful songwriting. “Pikiran Yang Matang” invites listeners to be more mindful in managing their thoughts and energy in today’s fast-paced digital age. The single is now available on all major streaming platforms.
