Bingkai Karya – AKB48 , the popular Japanese idol group, has announced the launch of its tenth overseas sister group, KLP48, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The group will debut in the summer of 2024.
“We are grateful for the warm support we have received from our fans around the world,” said AKB48 General Producer Yasushi Akimoto. “We are excited to bring the AKB48 experience to Malaysia with the launch of KLP48.”
KLP48 will be the fourth AKB48 sister group in Southeast Asia, joining JKT48 (Indonesia), BNK48 (Thailand), and MNL48 (Philippines).
“We are confident that KLP48 will be a success,” said Akimoto. “Malaysia is a vibrant and growing market for entertainment, and we believe that KLP48 will be able to connect with fans of all ages.”
Nariaki Terada of Superball Inc. has been appointed as the General Producer of all AKB48 overseas sister groups. Terada is a veteran of the entertainment industry with a wealth of experience in Asia.
“I am honored to be appointed as the General Producer of AKB48’s overseas sister groups,” said Terada. “I am committed to working with the members of each group to help them achieve their dreams.”
