The 25th Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) Awards announced the nomination on 14 September 2022. Along with AMI Awards’s theme this year that is same with the G20 Presidency “Recover Together, Recover Stronger Through Music”, a total of 4156 songs are registered in the release period between 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.
AMI Awards is held by the Yayasan Anugerah Musik Indonesia (YAMI) to give the highest award to Indonesian musicians. Since it was first established in 1996 until now, the Yayasan Anugerah Musik Indonesia has made a real contribution in advancing the Indonesian music industry.
Interestingly, there is a new color in the AMI Awards’ categories this year. From the results of the AMI categorization session which took place on 18-29 July 2022, resulting in the number of 57 categories with the addition and improvement of several new categories, including:
- Best Contemporary R&B Male/Female Solo Artist,
- Best Contemporary R&B Duo/Group/Collaboration,
- Best Male/Female Rap/Hip Hop Solo Artist,
- Best Rap/Hip Hop Duo/Group/Collaboration,
- Best Male/Female Solo Artist/Group/Metal Collaboration,
- Best Metal Album.
Many extraordinary musicians are included as the nominees in diverse categories. In the nomination for the Best Pop Woman Solo Artist, there are Lyodra, Mahalini, Raisa, Rossa, Yura Yunita, and Ziva Magnolya. Moreover, there are Tulus, Andmesh, Judika, Rizky Febian, and Fabio Asher in the nomination of the Best Pop Man Solo Artist. In the nomination of the Best Language Regional Song Production Works, there are Abah Lala, Denny Caknan, Guyon Waton, Evan Loss, Ndarboy Genk, and Yura Yunita.
AMI Awards nominates various genres from Pop, Jazz, Rock, Soul/R&B, Dangdut, Children Songs, Alternative, Keroncong, Metal, Production Work, etc. AMI Awards will announce the awardees on 13 October 2022.
