Asing: Stereo Wall’s Second Album Marks a New Era of Honesty and Sound

Bingkai Karya – After releasing their debut album ‘Prologue’ in 2023 and building a long musical journey through the EP Never Ending Drama (2016) and several singles, Jakarta-based alternative rock band Stereo Wall is back with their new album ‘Asing.’ This second full album was officially released on April 30, 2025, on all digital music platforms.

The band, made up of Cynantia Pratita (vocals), Rama Mayristha (guitar), Usay (guitar), Ramadhan Satria (bass), and Reiner (keyboard/synth)—created Asing as a bolder musical and thematic exploration. The album reflects an emotional journey of breaking free from toxic relationships—whether in love, friendship, or social life—through more personal and honest lyrics.

A Personal Story Told in Seven Musical Chapters

Asing contains seven tracks, six in Indonesian and one in English, making it the most Indonesian-lyric-dominant release in Stereo Wall’s discography. The songs are arranged like chapters in a novel, showing different emotional phases: pain, anger, frustration, and finally, acceptance.

Three of the tracks—E.M.O, Sabotase Jiwa, and Terjebak Imajinasi—were released earlier in 2024, gaining attention from fans as lyrics were teased on social media.

Main Single: “Asing”

The title track “Asing” was chosen as the main single and represents the emotional climax of the album. With sharp lyrics like “Kau buat hitam putih begitu saja / Gelap kita berbeda, terang kita tak sama”, the song captures the moment someone starts to question and even laugh at the reason for staying in a painful relationship.

The music video, starring vocalist Cynantia Pratita, shows the contrast between colorful joy and the moment everything suddenly feels distant or “strange.”

New Songs with Powerful Emotions

Besides Asing, the album also includes three new songs released on the same day:

  • Cedera Abadi has the darkest and most explosive lyrics, telling a story of invisible but lasting emotional pain.
  • Berjalan Pada Instruksi is a social critique about pressure and expectations, expressed with Stereo Wall’s signature distorted and angry sound. It even includes ambient sounds from Jakarta’s subway to emphasize the absurdity of city life.
  • Haru Senyap, the only ballad on the album, is written in memory of loved ones who have passed away. Lyrics like “Ku berjalan perlahan / Menikmati kesunyian” reflect a calm acceptance.

Their Most Expressive Album Yet

Released as the band celebrates its 13th anniversary (since forming on September 16, 2012), Asing stands as the most expressive album in Stereo Wall’s career. With more direct sound, explosive arrangements, and personal lyrics, this album shows the band’s musical maturity.

Asing is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms
