Bingkai Karya-BINUS University and Politeknik eLBajo Commodus teamed up for the International Community Development Program (ICDP) 2024. This event took place from August 13-22. This year’s focus was on helping Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises through student ideas based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The ICDP 2024 gave both local and international students a chance to gain unique experiences. They tackled real-world challenges and worked together to come up with solutions to improve the MSME sector and its impact on communities. Students from top universities, like the University of New South Wales in Australia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, joined in to build cross-cultural connections and enhance their learning.
Labuan Bajo was chosen for this program because it offered a chance to understand local culture. Also how it can be integrated with SDG concepts to create practical solutions using technology.
“This year’s ICDP in Labuan Bajo lets students explore innovations to boost the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises sector while integrating SDG themes. We hope these innovations will help them to improve their businesses and make a real difference in the local economy,” said Debby Sonita Lubis, the Project Lead and Internationalization Office Associate Manager at BINUS University.
Marianus Yono Jehanu, the Head of Batu Cermin Village in Komodo District, praised the collaboration, noting it could significantly benefit local MSMEs, especially in popular tourist spots like Batu Cermin.
“We appreciate the positive ideas brought by this program, which have great potential for implementation. It’s a collaborative effort involving all stakeholders,” added Yosef Edward Nairum Nahas (Teddy Nahas), from the West Manggarai Tourism and Creative Economy Office.
