Bingkai Karya – Bringing together young artists from different labels is never an easy task. However, Sony Music Indonesia and Musica Studios successfully made it happen through the release of “Apanya Dong,” a legendary song originally written by the late Titiek Puspa.
The single features Zara Leola from Musica Studios alongside Mikky and Zia from Sony Music Indonesia. “Apanya Dong” serves as the opening release of a collaborative project between the two labels, which aims to reimagine classic Indonesian songs through fresh interpretations by artists from both sides.
The remake is produced by Fadly, who previously collaborated with Mikky and Zia on their singles “Aku Dah Lupa” and “Aku Bilang Jangan,” both known for their distinctive hipdut (hip-hop dangdut) sound. This time, the producer brings the same modern hipdut approach to a timeless classic, resulting in a vibrant and contemporary reinterpretation.
For Zara Leola, the collaboration was an opportunity she did not want to miss, despite her busy filming schedule.
“When Musica’s A&R first offered this project, I was in the middle of an intense shooting schedule. Still, I was determined to make this collaboration happen because I had never sung a hipdut song before. When it finally came together, I was really happy to be able to try something new,” Zara shared.
According to Zia, this project marked their first cross label collaboration experience.
“When we found out that we would be singing together with Zara Leola, Mikky and I were genuinely excited. The entire process was quite short, around one to two months, and the recording itself only took one day,” she explained.
Mikky added that “Apanya Dong” had been chosen by the labels from the very beginning as the opening track for the collaboration between Sony Music Indonesia and Musica Studios.
“We feel proud and excited to bring back a legendary song that is already familiar to Indonesian music lovers. The challenge was minimal because this is a song I truly enjoy, which made the process fun especially with Zara joining us. There are many fresh elements in this single that can be enjoyed by listeners across generations, from those who grew up with the song to Gen Z listeners who may be hearing it for the first time.”
Zara also noted that although the process was relatively fast, the positive atmosphere and instant chemistry between them made the production enjoyable. Nevertheless, stepping outside her comfort zone was still a challenge.
“This is my first time singing a hipdut song. At first, I was afraid it wouldn’t suit me or that I wouldn’t feel comfortable, but in the end, I really enjoyed exploring this new genre.”
With renewed spirit and fresh harmony, the trio hopes that “Apanya Dong” will be well received by listeners of all ages. Mikky and Zia expressed their shared hope that the song will gain wide appreciation and popularity, while Zara added that she wishes Gen Z audiences can discover and enjoy this legendary track through its modern sound.
The collaborative single “Apanya Dong,” a remake of Titiek Puspa’s legendary work performed by Mikky, Zia, and Zara Leola, will be available on all digital music platforms starting December 10, 2025.
