Bingkai Karya – Welcoming Chinese New Year 2026, Step by Step ID officially releases their latest single titled “GONG XI HAPPY”. The song is a special piece that captures the festive spirit of Chinese New Year through a distinctive blend of oriental music elements with touches of dangdut, rap, and an energetic dance break. This fusion creates a fresh, modern, and cheerful sound.

The Chinese New Year theme was chosen because the celebration is a special occasion that comes only once a year and is closely associated with togetherness and family gatherings. Step by Step ID was also inspired by neighboring countries that had already released Chinese New Year-themed songs, even several months before the celebration. At the same time, the song addresses a personal concern shared by Step by Step ID. Rendy revealed that the ideas stemmed from his worry that many Chinese Indonesians are not fluent in Mandarin. Through this song, they convey the message that even if one is not fluent in Mandarin, they should still feel proud of their Chinese heritage and the blood that runs through their veins. Through “GONG XI HAPPY”, Step by Step ID wants to express that celebrating culture does not always have to be through language, but can also be reflected in togetherness, gratitude, and happiness.

The title “GONG XI HAPPY” represents a celebration within Chinese culture that is filled with moments of joy, togetherness, and hope. The song aims to deliver a positive message about the importance of celebrating special moments with loved ones, especially family. At the same time, it welcomes the Chinese New Year with renewed energy: bright, positive, and full of color.

In this single, Step by Step ID, led by Natya Shina and Rendy Pritz, collaborates with NaissaDeinara. As Natya Shina’s younger sister, Naissa brings an energetic and dynamic performance style. She is also widely known as a dance content creator with a strong and distinctive character.

Dance elements play a major role in this single, aligning with Step by Step’s identity, which was born from the world of creative content.

“Dance is the part that represents us the most, because that’s where we come from as content creators,” said Natya and Rendy.

The creative process behind “GONG XI HAPPY” was relatively short yet intense. Within approximately one month leading up to its release, various stages were carried out at a marathon-like pace. In early January 2026, they flew to Malaysia to complete the recording and vocal sessions in a short amount of time. But the third week of January, the creative team had been formed, followed by additional video shoots in Bali after Jakarta, featuring heartwarming scenes of togetherness with their extended family.

The family filming moment became one of the most emotional parts of the production process. The presence of their grandmother, who had to use a wheelchair, created a deeply touching atmosphere and further strengthened the message of togetherness that the song aims to convey.

Musically, “GONG XI HAPPY” presents a unique element through the use of the Guzheng, a traditional Chinese plucked instrument that has existed for more than 2,500 years. Known for its soft and resident sound, the Guzheng is often associated with natural imagery and the flow of water. This traditional element is then blended with dangdut rhythms, enriching the song’s distinctive and powerful character.

The single is produced by Gaston Pong, a singer-songwriter and founder of Plouton Records, who has created more than 100 original songs. He has also worked as a producer for one of JYP’s boy groups. This collaboration further enhances the musical quality and cross-genre exploration brought by Step by Step ID.

Through “GONG XI HAPPY”, Step by Step ID also marks their return to the music industry after being occupied with various other projects. This release serves as a vibrant opening to 2026 and reflects their consistency in creating original works.

“We hope all of our original songs are well loved and can become companions in both sat and happy moments. We also want them to be enjoyed, not only by listeners, but also by dance enthusiasts, because yes, we have a dance challenge for this one!” Natya added.

In the near future, Step by Step ID has also prepared a series of exciting campaigns, including a dance challenge and other fun activities to celebrate the song’s release.

“GONG XI HAPPY” is now available on various digital music platforms and is ready to accompany the 2026 Chinese New Year celebrations with a spirit of joy, togetherness, and hope. Happy listening and Happy Chinese New Year 2026! GONG XI HAPPY!
