Bingkai Karya-Malang-based band Coldiac is back with their latest work after releasing an album last year. This time they remake the song “Jangan Pernah Berubah” that was performed by Marcell.
“Jangan Pernah Berubah” was composed by Melly Goeslaw and released in 2003. This project is also the second cover song made by Coldiac. For Coldiac, this song has a strong message about loyalty and love that never fades. The song honors the wonderful times in love and also evokes nostalgia..
“We are one of the lucky generations who got to know the song ‘Jangan Pernah Berubah’ in the early 2000s, in our opinion this is one of the best songs ever created by Melly G,” said Sambadha, one of Coldiac’s vocalists.
For Coldiac, remaking a legendary song from its era is a challenge. They still wanted to include Coldiac’s character while maintaining the song’s core message. It took two months to produce this song from the beginning until the music video process. While Sebastian Susanto directed the black-and-white video in Jakarta, the recording took place in Malang.
The Coldiac’s version of “Jangan Pernah Berubah” was warmly received by netizens mainly on Tiktok. 2 weeks before its official release on all platforms, a 30-second snippet of the song was already circulating on fyp Tiktok. A total of 34 thousand video creations use the song. In response, Coldiac then gave exclusive access to his fans to first listen to the full song which can be enjoyed in just 24 hours.
