DRIVE, which now consists of Axl Ramanda (vocals), Bhusdeq (guitar), Dygo (bass), and Rudy (drums), has re-released another hit song titled “Melepasmu”. Originally released in 2008, the song managed to top the Indonesian charts at the time.
“At that time on social media, we made a vote. If DRIVE re-released old songs, which song would you choose? And the most chosen song was Melepasmu, even on Youtube, many (people) sent comments with requests for us to re-release Melepasmu,” said Rudy.
Indeed, the song “Melepasmu (New Version)” feels different from the first version. Starting from the singing style, and music arrangement, to the lyrics and notation at the end of the song. Note the English lyrics at the end of the song, which are different from the previous version.
“It’s not difficult to make a ‘new version’ of this song because Axl has made clear differences with the old version. Also, to reaffirm DRIVE’s own identity, I made a more band-like intro, with a majestic strings section arrangement,” explains Bhusdeq.

For Axl, the new vocalist, singing a hit song is a challenge. Even though this song was once known to many people with their former vocalist, Axl’s wide vocal range makes this song no less cool than the previous version.
“Of course, I sing this song in my way, I’m sure people can feel the song Melepasmu with a new taste,” said the vocalist, Axl.
DRIVE is indeed planning to re-release 2 of their hits, not only to strengthen DRIVE’s identity with their current new lineup, but also serves as a bridge to their next works. DRIVE has prepared five new songs for Drivemaniacs and Indonesian music lovers that will be released in the next few months.
