The journey of “Hujan” began at the Billion Songs Concert, where maestro Yovie Widianto invited the audience to contribute three chords and four random words: rain, pain, thirst, and sleep. In a matter of moments, a song emerged, lacking a title but brimming with emotion. The impromptu creation took just five minutes, and Ziva Magnolya premiered it in front of a captivated audience of over 4,000 at the JCC.
The magic of that night did not end there, the song went viral on social media, sparking a clamor for its official recording and release. Ziva, thrilled by the unexpected success, expressed confidence in Yovie’s ability to craft a masterpiece out of the spontaneous creation.
“This song was written very spontaneously, but if it is in Mas Yovie’s hands, I’m sure my friends will like it,” said Ziva.
Now, the impromptu piece has transformed into a reality, becoming the latest single released by Arsy Widianto and Ziva Magnolya under the Universal record label of Indonesian Music.
The lyrics of “Hujan” weave a poetic tale of rain unable to erase the lingering feeling of longing. The musical arrangement, adorned with an orchestra, intensifies the song’s serene effect. The music video for “Hujan” unfolds against the enchanting backdrop of Tokyo, witnessing the poignant story of Arsy and Ziva, separated yet tethered by their emotions. Produced by Nocturnal Projects and skillfully directed by Jessy Sylviani and Bobby Adrian V, the video perfectly encapsulates the song’s mood.
“Even though it was still summer in Japan yesterday, we were very lucky that it rained there, so it matched the theme of the song,” shared Arsy, highlighting the fortunate alignment of weather with the song’s essence.
“Hujan” is not just a standalone release but serves as the focus track for Arsy Widianto’s inaugural album, “Puisi,” featuring a collection of 14 heartfelt songs. Reflecting on his album, Arsy shares, “This album is a poem from my heart’s journey over the past few years which I try to tell through my voice. Hopefully, my friends will like the songs and everyone can enjoy them.”
