Bingkai Karya – Global superstar JENNIE has released her ethereal new single and music video, “Less than a Lover,” now available via OddAtelier/Columbia Records.
Serving as JENNIE’s soundtrack for the summer, the single captures the excitement and lingering emotions of a relationship that exists somewhere between friendship and romance. Written by JENNIE herself, the song explores the emotional space shared with someone who is more than a friend but “less than a lover,” embracing both the uncertainty and exhilaration of an undefined connection. Expanding her sonic palette with a softer alternative-pop sound, the track blends lo-fi guitar textures and vintage electric keyboards with JENNIE’s signature vocals and heartfelt songwriting, naturally conveying the subtle emotions that arise in a relationship that is neither purely friendship nor fully love. Based on a story created by JENNIE, the accompanying music video follows her as she slips into another world, another character, and another version of herself while filming a short movie with her friends, where a fictional love story gradually creates unexpected dynamics among them.
JENNIE first previewed “Less than a Lover” to a massive audience during her historic headlining performance at Governors Ball in June. Since then, she has continued to dominate major festival stages, including Mad Cool, Open’er, and Roskilde. She is set to continue her summer festival run as a headliner at Lollapalooza Chicago, before making her highly anticipated debut at Summer Sonic Festival in Japan.
