Happy National Father’s Day! Find Out the History of National Father’s Day and Fun Facts about Father!

National Father’s Day is celebrated on 12 November. This celebration is a form of appreciation and tribute to every father. National Father’s Day was made by Perkumpulan Putra Ibu Pertiwi (PPIP) in 2014 because of people’s waiting to take part in a letter writing contest for fathers.

Along with the stipulation of 12 November 2014 as National Father’s Day, a book was launched entitled “Kenangan untuk Ayah” in Maumere, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. This book contained 100 letters from Indonesian children selected from a letter writing competition for fathers. 

Moreover, there are 2 fun facts about fathers which are seldom known by the public. First, fathers can feel the symptoms of pregnancy sympathy. Fathers can experience all the side effects of pregnancy that mothers experience which is called couvade syndrome. The most common symptom is mood swings, but some men also experience morning sickness, insomnia, and more.

Second, in a survey of 36 studies published in Personality and Social Psychology Review, researchers found that a child’s future well-being and happiness depends largely on whether the father overwhelms them with affection. More fatherly attention has a positive effect on self-esteem and self-confidence for the child.
