Bingkai Karya – To celebrate a decade of hospitality excellence, ibis Styles Malang hosted a “Cooking Master” competition on January 18th, 2024. This exciting event, themed “Road to G10rious: Let’s Shine Bright Together!”, brought together 28 enthusiastic students from various high schools in Malang, forming 14 eager teams.
The competition wasn’t just about delicious dishes; it was about forging strong partnerships between ibis Styles Malang and local hospitality schools. It also provided a platform for these budding chefs to showcase their culinary skills and creativity.
Adding a dash of mystery, the competition followed a “black box” format. With 60 minutes on the clock, each team faced the challenge of whipping up a culinary masterpiece using surprise ingredients hidden within a black box.
“This event is not just about celebrating our 10th anniversary,” shared Ina Rianawati, General Manager of ibis Styles Malang. “We hope to build lasting connections with schools and help nurture future culinary stars who might one day join our team as chefs. The enthusiasm from the participants has been amazing, and we’re excited to play a role in preparing them for the hospitality industry.”
After a fierce culinary battle, the winners were crowned:
- First Place: Team “The Golden Spoon” from SMK Negeri 1 Malang
- Second Place: Team “The Young Chefs” from SMK Negeri 2 Malang
- Third Place: Team “The Culinary Stars” from SMK Negeri 3 Malang
Each winning team received trophies and certificates to commemorate their achievement.
With this successful event, ibis Styles Malang not only marked its 10th anniversary in style but also strengthened its commitment to fostering future culinary talent in Malang. The hotel looks forward to many more years of shining bright, both within its walls and within the local community.
