Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Health of Indonesia, met Elon Musk to discuss possible cooperation with the Indonesian government. Through this meeting, they hoped that Starlink, a satellite network owned by Elon Musk, can help provide internet access in health centers located in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost (3T) areas.
Budi said that this was an effort to ensure equal and equitable health services in Indonesia, during his working visit to the United States on August 4.
According to Budi, health services are the front line in creating a healthy community, so it must be ensured that the infrastructure is adequate. Currently, of the 10,000 existing health services, around 2,200 with 11,100 auxiliary health services do not yet have internet access.
Budi hopes that this increase in internet connectivity will open up better access to health services. The existence of access to communication between regions will be easier so that reporting can also be timely. This activity also supports Indonesia’s health transformation digitalization agenda.
