
Bingkai Karya – Japanese singer-songwriter Ayaka released her first digital single of 2025, ‘Versailles’, on Wednesday, January 29 . The single is the theme song for the animated feature film ‘The Rose of Versailles’, released theatrically in Japan on Friday, January 31. The song was written by Ayaka especially for the film, with the singer’s incredible vocals and sense of melody adding new color to the movie’s unique atmosphere.
As a bonus for fans of the classic series, the cover image for the single is a scene from ‘The Rose of Versailles’, the animated film based on Riyoko Ikeda’s masterpiece manga series depicting the loves and loves of characters struggling to survive in Revolutionary France.
Ayaka commented, “I wrote this song while immersing myself in the world of the series,” resulting in a song that is filled with emotion. And now it’s your turn to immerse yourself in the world of ‘Versailles’ and Ayaka’s gorgeous singing voice.
Ayaka made her debut in 2006 with the song ‘I believe’. Her debut album ‘First Message’– which featured the smash hit ‘Mikazuki’– was a massive success that shipped over 1.4 million copies. Her 2009 best album also went on to achieve million-seller status. Ayaka’s song ‘Niji-iro’, the theme song for the 2014 NHK morning drama ‘Hanako to Anne’, remains an enduring hit to this day as well.
The singer-songwriter performs in a variety of live formats, including nationwide tours with minimalist setups of just guitar, piano, and vocals, as well as full-band arrangements, dinner shows, and symphonic concerts.
