Jinan Laetitia Releases Her Debut Mini Album, “The Pendulum”: A Journey Through Love, Loss, and Self-Discovery

Bingkai KaryaJinan Laetitia, has recently completed her latest project, “The Pendulum,” her debut mini album. This release includes five English tracks, featuring four previously released songs and a new one titled “Visions (from under the rubble),” which debuted on digital streaming platforms on Friday, October 11, 2024.

“The album tells a story of losing love and the lessons that come from it,” Jinan said. She explained that life is like a pendulum, swinging between good and bad times. Our ability to feel sadness mirrors our ability to feel joy and love.

The five tracks include “Objects of Affection,” “Indulgence,” “Renaissance Man,” “Symbols,” and “Visions (from under the rubble).” The Pendulum was written and produced by Jinan in collaboration with Osvaldorio. Jinan previously hinted that her latest album would feature more upbeat songs and a brighter vibe. For instance, in “Renaissance Man,” she explores house music for the first time.

The album’s first four songs are upbeat, representing different phases of life, while the final track, “Visions (from under the rubble),” slows things down and serves as the album’s focus track. In this track, Jinan encourages people to share their dreams and includes a speech by Rashida Tlaib that addresses humanitarian issues.

“The Pendulum” Short Movie

Additionally, Jinan has released a short film, The Pendulum, on her YouTube channel. The film, produced by VSLZM, directed by Dorothy Keiza, and creatively supervised by Michael Budihardjo, is nearly 12 minutes long and visually interprets the album’s songs through the story of a woman and a black cat, symbolizing different stages of love.

Jinan explains that in “Objects of Affection” and “Renaissance Man,” the woman falls in love with the black cat, hoping to transform it into a human. In “Indulgence,” the cat becomes a demon, representing change it dislikes. By “Symbols,” the cat leaves because the woman cannot accept it for who it is. Through this experience, the woman learns the importance of self-love. By the end of the film, in “Visions,” the woman finds strength, symbolizing her inner transformation.

All tracks from The Pendulum are now available on digital streaming platforms, and the short film also available on Jinan Laetitia’s YouTube channel.
