Joji Releases New Album Titled “Smithereens”

Joji released his latest album entitled “Smithereens” through 88rising on November 10, 2022. To celebrate the release and highly successful Smithereens tour that sold over 120,000 tickets, Joji announced two major arena tour dates at Madison Square Garden in New York and The Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

He will be performing at his biggest venue in the United States next spring, 6 and 13 May 2023. He also announced the main show at London’s iconic Gunnersbury Park on 17 August.

“Smithereens” has become Joji’s full-length work since Nectar ‘s 2020 album. He gives his melancholic voice in the song “Die For You,” a song that wakes him up one morning after remembering his ex-lover. The song is accompanied by visuals directed by a creative studio that uses a compilation of stock recordings of many items.

SIDE A of the album marks a ripe sonic direction for Joji through a sad and contemplative ballad accompanied by a blooming sense of production in each song. SIDE B, produced largely by Joji himself, delve deeper into his lo-fi that harks back to his experimental beginnings as a singer.
