Bingkai Karya – GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Laufey returns with her latest single “Snow White”, now available on all streaming platforms. The official music video, filmed in her home country of Iceland and directed by her twin sister and creative director Junia Lin, is also out now on Laufey’s YouTube channel.
Maintaining her signature dreamy style, “Snow White” dives into the quiet pressures of chasing perfection especially the beauty standards that often weigh heavily on women.
“‘Snow White’ is about the struggle of striving for perfection that comes with being a woman like looking in the mirror and seeing so many things you feel you need to fix,” Laufey shares.
The Final Chapter Before the Album “Snow White” is the last single before the release of Laufey’s highly anticipated third album A Matter of Time, arriving August 22 via Vingolf Recordings / AWAL. Compared to her earlier works, Laufey describes the album’s creation as a more expansive creative journey:
“Every time I write for a new album, it feels like filling the pages of an empty book waiting for a story,” she explains.
Her debut album Everything I Know About Love (2022) was a coming-of-age story about leaving her home in Iceland. The GRAMMY®-winning Bewitched (2023) explored young love with sweeping orchestral arrangements, hints of bossa nova, and her warm alto voice.
With A Matter of Time, Laufey deepens her roots in classical and jazz influences, this time without limits. She teamed up again with longtime collaborator Spencer Stewart and worked for the first time with Aaron Dessner, the acclaimed producer behind Taylor Swift’s Folklore and Evermore, whose sensitive touch brought fresh emotional textures to the project.
“People might imagine me as this feminine figure in a pretty dress singing romantic love songs to sweet music,” she says. “But this time, I wanted to look straight at my most flawed self in the mirror.”
The result is a candid and sometimes witty portrait of love: romantic, confusing, shattering, and tender, all filtered through Laufey’s timeless yet modern sound.
About Laufey
Laufey (pronounced lāy-vāy) is an Icelandic-Chinese artist whose sensitive songwriting about love and self-discovery blends pop with jazz and classical influences. She bridges generations, drawing from Chet Baker, Carole King, and Ravel, and reimagines them for today’s young audiences.
Raised in Reykjavík and Washington, D.C., she began playing piano and cello at a young age before studying at Berklee College of Music. Her debut EP Typical of Me (2021) and the single “Street by Street” reached No. 1 on Icelandic radio, setting off a series of achievements: over 5 billion global streams, 25 million social media followers, the biggest jazz debut in Spotify history, and a Billboard Top 20 album with Bewitched. She has sold-out shows at iconic venues including Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall, and Royal Albert Hall, performed with renowned orchestras, and collaborated with artists from Beabadoobee to Norah Jones.
In early 2025, she launched The Laufey Foundation, supporting young musicians, especially through youth orchestras, by donating $1 from every ticket sold on the A Matter of Time tour.
Following her sold-out Asia tour last year, including stops in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, and Taipei, Laufey continues to grow her presence in the region. The Philippines ranks as her No. 2 streaming market worldwide, with Indonesia at No. 3.
