Bingkai Karya – Following their debut album released in 2023, the jazz ensemble LOVE IS returns with their second album, Made to Believe, in collaboration with the record label demajors. Now performing as a quartet, the group consists of founder, composer, and bassist Jason Mountario, pianist Sri Hanuraga, drummer Kelvin Andreas, and saxophonist Rainer James.
This album captures the live recording of LOVE IS’s debut performance on the second night of the Salihara International Performing Arts Festival 2024.
Eight compositions—“One Big If,” “Fetus Fantasy,” “Spoiled Spoilers,” “Beautiful Breed,” “Hush Hunt,” “Twin Terminal,” “Made to Believe,” and “Kindergarten”—were successfully immortalized. The album highlights the band’s signature approach: structured free improvisation blended with bold, intricate compositions.
The word “Believe” carries a hidden postscript—an entity or a place—transforming the melodies into a playground for listeners to experience rather than merely understand. It is an invitation to perceive music through emotions rather than logic.
“It defies practicality, efficiency, and immediacy. This is evident in the physical and mental intensity that burdens the performers as they play Made to Believe, its extended duration, and the negative space that challenges listeners to grasp Jason Mountario’s compositions instantly,” explained Sri Hanuraga.
The album will be available on all major streaming platforms starting February 21, 2025, followed by a compact disc release soon after. With this work, LOVE IS aims to bring fresh and innovative contributions to Indonesia’s jazz scene.
