Marcello Tahitoe Returns with Seventh Album Ombak Melankolia: A New Chapter of Musical Exploration

Bingkai KaryaMarcello Tahitoe has released his latest album, titled “Ombak Melankolia.” This marks his seventh album throughout his music career, following his last album 99 in 2020, which won an AMI Award for Best Rock Album.

That success did not make Ello (Marcello) stay in his comfort zone; instead, he became even more motivated to experiment with his music. He explained that he does not want to be trapped in a single genre. “This is my seventh album, and it’s different from my previous works. Ombak Melankolia is filled with low-dynamic songs, something I have never done in my past six albums. This is also my way to keep the passion for creating music alive,” he said.

Ombak Melankolia contains 10 songs, including three previously released tracks: Do Over, Janji Sumpah, and Asmaralaya, along with seven new songs. These new tracks were developed with a different approach compared to Ello’s previous music. In this album, he also collaborated with musicians such as Iga Massardi, Pandu Fuzztoni, Vega Antares, Timotius Firman, and Eki Puradiredja. “Working with them gave me new knowledge. I learned that every musician has their own approach and different musical taste. For me, that’s very important and it made me feel satisfied while making this album,” he added.

Through this album, Ello invites listeners to experience a new musical “journey.” With the wide variety of songs, he hopes that “everyone can enjoy a different vibe from my previous albums and feel the melancholy tone in each track of this diverse album,” he said.

Ombak Melankolia by Marcello Tahitoe was officially released on Friday, 25 April 2025, under MK Records.
