Maribou State Unveils New Single “Bloom” Ahead of Their Upcoming Album “Hallucinating Love”

Bingkai Karya-Maribou State, a duo made up of Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, has released a new single called “Bloom” featuring rising Sudanese-Dutch singer Gaidaa. “Bloom” carries Maribou State’s unique sound, with their signature guitar riffs, drum beats that bring back memories of early rave music, and Gaidaa’s captivating vocals. It’s the second single from their upcoming album, “Hallucinating Love.”

“Bloom” follows their recent release “Otherside,” featuring longtime collaborator Holly Walker. Along with the single, Maribou State announced a third show at Alexandra Palace. They’re also heading on a North American tour in spring 2025, their first full-band tour there in six years. This tour will be especially meaningful since Chris Davids recently returned to music after recovering from major surgery for a rare brain condition, which kept him from the studio for a while.

Their new album, “Hallucinating Love,” was challenging to make due to health issues and personal struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Chris was diagnosed with a rare condition, chiari malformation, which required surgery in 2023, right before the album was completed.

Maribou State first gained worldwide attention with their 2015 debut “Portraits” and continued to impress with Kingdom in Colour in 2019. The journey brought Chris and Liam, who have been friends since their teens, even closer together. The duo is deeply grateful to their fans for their patience and support during this challenging time, and they’re looking forward to sharing “Hallucinating Love” in January.
