The Garut Regency Government (Pemkab Garut) and South Korea will release a video about the fight of a Korean youth who defended the Indonesian people in Garut during World War II. Two well-known actors from Korea (Kim Bum) and Indonesia (Maudy Ayunda) will play as the main protagonists in this film.
Tanah Air Kedua, according to Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan, will chronicle the narrative of Yang Chil Sung, a young South Korean who assisted the people of Garut fight colonists in the 1940s.
Yang Chil Sung did not travel alone. He defected with two Japanese citizens, Hasegawa and Aoki, who became his companions. Yang Chil Sung is a young guy with military skills. He is considered to be a specialist in bomb construction and was the mastermind behind the previous bombing of the Garut bridge to protect the community from invaders. Yang Chil Sung, Aoki, and Hasegawa, on the other hand, met a horrible end. It is known that they were sentenced to death by the Dutch when they returned to Indonesia in 1945.

Pemkab Garut agreed to put his story to the big screen in order to thank him for his contributions, particularly Yang Chil Sung. Tanah Air Kedua was picked as the title. The production of this film is slated to begin in October 2023. The filming will take place in Garut and South Korea.
The production of this film is part of Pemkab Garut’s investment and cultural engagement with South Korea. In order to do this, Regent Rudy met with South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Lee Sang Deok in Jakarta on August 25.
