Bingkai Karya-Pop singer-songwriter mxmtoon has announced her third album, “liminal space,” set to release globally in November. This new album continues mxmtoon’s tradition of deeply personal songwriting, which has earned her a huge following around the world. “liminal space” delves into the uncertainties of growing up, all wrapped in her signature indie-pop style. It’s shaping up to be her most introspective project yet.
mxmtoon explains, “In the past two years, I’ve felt stuck in a confusing and never-ending phase. Life has thrown so many questions at me that I often find myself saying, ‘I don’t know how to answer this.’ In this state of uncertainty, I wrote these songs to figure out how I’m managing my roles and where I might be falling short.”
For this album, mxmtoon worked with an all-female team of producers, writers, engineers, and visual artists, including the talented KangHee Kim. She felt that having an all-female creative team made the process of exploring these themes even more meaningful. She describes “liminal space” as an album for those struggling to find their way and feeling lost in their own endless journey.
Alongside the album announcement, mxmtoon is also releasing a new track titled “the situation.” This song features vocals from Sarah Bonito of the UK electro-indie-pop group Kero Kero Bonito and cryalot. With its catchy pop beats and acoustic touches, “the situation” cleverly addresses feelings of being past your prime, blending upbeat music with thoughtful lyrics to create a memorable pop anthem.
