Mcdonald’s collaboration with a Kpop group has happened before. Long before New Jeans collaborated with McDonald’s, the restaurant franchise had also collaborated with boy group BTS to launch BTS Meal in June 2021. At that time, interest in BTS Meal was so overwhelming that there was a riot between the delivery provider who waited for orders to customers and a number of restaurant managers.

NewJeans is one of the 4th generation K-pop girl groups that has skyrocketed since releasing an EP titled New Jeans on August 1, 2022. The EP consists of four songs, namely Attention, Hype Boy, Cookie, and Hurt. The girl group consisting of Minji, Hanni, Haerin, Danielle, and Hyein also just released the latest number in early 2023. They released a title-track titled OMG which summarizes a maxi-single containing two songs, namely OMG and Ditto.
