NewJeans is collaborating with fast food restaurant chain, McDonald’s to present a special chicken-based menu that is sold only during certain periods. In a social media post, McDonald’s South Korea announced that the collaboration menu with the rising K-Pop girl group will so far be released in 10 countries.
The ten countries are South Korea on June 1st, Philippines on June 13th, Thailand on June 28th, Indonesia on July 12th, Brunei Darusalam on September 1st, Malaysia on September 7th, Hong Kong on September 24th, Taiwan on October 25th, Singapore and Vietnam will be announced soon.
The fast food company announced this collaboration on their Korean social media account. However, McDonald’s Indonesia seems to have not yet made any announcements about the secret menu in collaboration with NewJeans.
Mcdonald’s collaboration with a Kpop group has happened before. Long before New Jeans collaborated with McDonald’s, the restaurant franchise had also collaborated with boy group BTS to launch BTS Meal in June 2021. At that time, interest in BTS Meal was so overwhelming that there was a riot between the delivery provider who waited for orders to customers and a number of restaurant managers.
NewJeans is one of the 4th generation K-pop girl groups that has skyrocketed since releasing an EP titled New Jeans on August 1, 2022. The EP consists of four songs, namely Attention, Hype Boy, Cookie, and Hurt. The girl group consisting of Minji, Hanni, Haerin, Danielle, and Hyein also just released the latest number in early 2023. They released a title-track titled OMG which summarizes a maxi-single containing two songs, namely OMG and Ditto.
