PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has implemented a new rule that requires train passengers not to deliberately pass or exceed the destination station listed on the ticket. DAOP 1 spokesperson Feni Novida Saragih said that the sanctions given were in the form of fines. In addition, there are sanctions imposed on passengers who are blacklisted and not allowed to ride trains.
The sanction rules are applied to maintain mutual comfort and order in rail transportation. Fanny explained that deliberate overloading by passengers greatly disturbs the comfort of other passengers and sometimes causes confusion among passengers.
According to data reported by the Customer Service Center for Trains (CSOT) through the Service Control Center, from January to the end of July 2023, there were 58 cases of excess relations for train departures and arrivals to and from Jakarta.

Feni explained that PT KAI will impose sanctions and fines on train passengers who deliberately get off at stations that exceed the relation stated on the ticket. “Recalcitrant passengers” will be fined twice the ticket price of the lowest subclass partial ticket price of the service class owned by the passenger from the destination station listed on the ticket to the station where they got off. If unable to pay on the train, the passenger will be directed to the counter.
Station staff will accompany the passenger to the counter to pay the fine. KAI will still give passengers 1×24 hours from the train arrival schedule to pay the fine. If the passenger does not pay the fine within 1×24 hours, then the person concerned is not allowed to ride the train temporarily for 90 days.
Meanwhile, passengers who have recorded more than 3 violations due to actions exceeding the relation stated on the ticket, will not be allowed to ride the train temporarily within 180 working days.
