Bingkai Karya– After making party hits, how did Dipha Barus become a DJ and producer? How does Dipha’s work address life’s challenges, employ Indonesian, and collaborate with bands and soloists? Featuring Kunto Aji, The Adams, and Swellow guitarist Andi “Idam” Fauzi, Dipha Barus‘ latest single “Rima Raga” explains it all.
After “Keep It Hush” in 2021, Dipha’s follow-up “Rima Raga” is long-awaited. Dipha’s recent life challenges are reflected in this single’s fresh melody and mood. In 2023, Dipha needed intense therapy for psychiatric issues. Dipha fell into a “dark” struggling and delusional state as his mind fought. At the border between being and silence, Dipha’s body sang a rhyme that progressively helped him understand his life. That event created “Rima Raga.”,” a song-music concept.
“My ‘dark’ day followed therapy. I recall it after leaving the psychiatrist. How I left the psychiatrist is wild. My doctor told me to journal everything. I journal with this song. Journaling turned out like song lyrics, which I didn’t realize. After that, I wrote songs “Dipha said. Dipha then suggested Kunto Aji sing this song. Aji accepted Dipha’s invitation without delay. The workshop went smoothly and straight to recording. Song lyrics were written by Kunto Aji.
“My song should express Dipha’s feelings. Collectively, we wrote it. Sharing a room. Dipha must be asked more about his message. After translating,” Kunto Aji wrote the lyrics.
Dipha and Kunto Aji’s songs express self-acceptance.
Dipha then imagined Swellow’s famed guitarist Idam and The Adams’ vocals to deepen the song’s message. Due to this, “Rima Raga” sounds distinct from Dipha’s prior releases. Four musical entities combine their duties. “The Adams performed backup. My loved ones often can’t hear what I feel because this song is about unspoken things. Eventually, my difficulties are a hill. ” dipha said the Adams’ last vocal, where Ale (Saleh Husein) shouts, is the interpretation.
Adams carefully considers their contribution in this tune. They believe music heals both producers and listeners. “We are artists, not doctors. If not medicine, our work may be ‘nutrition.’ Songs convey positivity that affects listeners personally and externally “Saleh Husein, representing The Adams.
“Among the ups and downs, that’s where I am.” a “My grief and sorrow are also my hopes.” This is how Dipha ultimately accepted himself, accepting all the good and terrible as a wonderful whole called life.
“I enjoyed music production again after a long period and was thrilled when it was finished. I haven’t felt this in a while…” Dipha said. The Dipha-founded Pon Your Tone label released “Rima Raga”. Sam John of Precise Mastering mastered and Jonathan Pardede mixed. Moses Sihombing and Anggun Priambodo directed the song’s music video.
