Rimaldi, or Daniel Yudhistira Rimaldi, reintroduced himself with a debut album entitled “Awakening”. “Awakening” is a coming of age story told through a series of songs he’s written over the past 7 years. It follows his journey from being an indecisive youngster living life from his bedroom to finally moving out of his parents’ house, really living life, and finding it’s not as scary as he thought it was.
Rimaldi’s release schedule is slightly eccentric, reflecting the mood of experiencing life and taking risks. There are no singles before the album. Instead, there will be EPs including alternate versions of the album’s tracks as follow-up releases. According to Rimaldi, the treatment he’s giving this album is similar to when a movie comes out and they release deleted scenes and disclose various endings. It’s a 35-minute piece of work meant to be digested in its whole, without the context of previous singles.

While Rimaldi wrote and produced all of the songs on this album, he also includes contributions from other musicians. Karina Christy contributes vocals on “Wake Up,” Attila Syah co-produced percussion on “Cupid, Cupid,” and Irsabian recorded acoustic guitar on “Over” and “Cupid, Cupid.”
