Seven Seventy is back with a completely different new breakthrough after previously releasing 1 single and 1 melancholic EP in 2022. The alternative rock band consisting of Dimas (Ayam) (guitarist/vocalist), Kevin (guitarist), Ajar (keyboardist), Reza (bassist), and Marcell (drummer) presents their new single “El Pollo Loco”.
The title of the song, which literally translates to Spanish as ‘the crazy chicken’, is linked to the lyrics in Indonesian, which is the first time for Seven Seventy after their previous works were always made in English.
Seven Seventy explained, “In our latest single, there is a desire to present alternative surf rock music with the interpretation of each member which is presented with the topic of cockfighting gambling with a champion named El Pollo Loco. This single also wants to raise the theme of chicken gambling and animal abuse by humans.”
The nuances of Mexicana music wrapped in surf rock color the song from the first second to the end. In addition, Seven Seventy also presents spoken words in the form of orations embedded in the middle of the song to describe tense cockfighting situations and there are elements of swing music which further enliven the atmosphere.
The meaning of the lyrics of the song “El Pollo Loco” insinuates the existence of chicken gambling and animal abuse carried out by irresponsible people. The single “El Pollo Loco” also provides an opportunity for Seven Seventy to be more relaxed compared to their previous work which required them to be more serious.

Therefore, inserting spoken words in the form of orations in this song also made Dimas the vocalist practice several times so that they sounded like the intonations of people giving speeches highlighting cases of illegal cockfighting.
Seven Seventy also added, “Of course there are difficulties when you have to write in Indonesian, especially with standard diction. We have repeatedly had to confirm that this word is indeed in the KBBI . Another challenge was studying the many cases of cockfighting in order to come up with relevant lyrics.”
Furthermore, this latest work from the band that has an EP: “FALA AMO” provides many fresh ideas for them to process visualizations that are able to represent the excitement of the song. After more than a year of working together, Seven Seventy also revealed that the bond between personnel was getting stronger with the arrival of a new single this year.
“El Pollo Loco” is expected to be a trigger for the band to further explore various musical genres with alternative rock as their identity. “El Pollo Loco” has been officially released on various digital streaming services starting July 14, 2023.
