Josh, the young son of the Primm family (Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley), struggles to fit in at his new school and with his new friends after the family relocates to New York City. All of that changes when he learns that Lyle, a singing crocodile played by Mendes, is residing in the attic of his new house and enjoys baths, caviar, and wonderful music.

The two become fast friends, but when Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman), Lyle’s evil neighbor, threatens his existence, the Primms must work with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Bardem), to demonstrate to the world that family can come from the strangest of places and that there’s nothing wrong with a large singing crocodile with an even larger personality.
