The 10th of August is National Technology Awakening Day (Hari Kebangkitan Teknologi Nasional/Hakteknas). Every August 10, Hakteknas commemorates the implementation of the first flight of the N-250 Gatotkaca aircraft on August 10, 1995.
The Nusantara Aircraft Industry, or IPTN, conducted the inaugural flight of the N-250 Gatotkaca aircraft. In recognition of this achievement, the government issued Presidential Decree (KEPPRES) Number 71 of 1995 about National Technology Awakening Day.
The N-250 plane is also a present for the Republic of Indonesia’s 50th anniversary of independence. The N-250 airplane has the code N, which stands for Nusantara, suggesting that it was designed, manufactured, and calculated in Indonesia by the country’s youngsters.

The goal of designating August 10 as National Technology Awakening Day is to recognize Indonesian children’s achievements in utilizing, mastering, and advancing science and technology. The day can also be understood as an endeavor to boost the spirit of creativity and technical innovation for the nation’s advancement in science and technology.
The Hakteknas Commemoration is also an event for awarding highly accomplished and industrious scientists and engineers in the sphere of science and technology. The presented science and technology works are also an excellent opportunity to hold the scientific and technological community accountable for all that has been accomplished with the resources supplied by the Indonesian people.
The day is also frequently filled with the presentation of awards to National Innovation System players who have made exceptional contributions to the growth of innovation. Academics (A, as producers of science and technology), business (B, as users of science and technology), government (G, as growers of the innovation climate), community (C, as a group of actors science and technology), and mass media (M, as a socialization partner of science and technology results) are the recipients of the awards.
