A big social media platform, TikTok, was reported testing their newest system, paid subscription. This tested TikTok paid subscription allows the TikTok users to scroll their TikTok for your page (usually called as FYP) without any ads.
The news was reported by Android Authority. They showed a screenshot of their TikTok account, showing TikTok’s system question if they want to use the free version of TikTok or upgrade their account to premium to eliminate the ads while they are scrolling their for you page.
“We have found a new string in the newest version of TikTok that indicates that the short-durated video content would offer you whether you want to try a monthly subscription to experience an ad free account as an option to all of their users,” Android Authority said in their report.
Seeing the screenshot, TikTok priced their monthly subscription for $4.99 or equals 77.000 rupiah. And with that monthly subscription, you are able to access an ad free TikTok for you page.

TikTok didn’t give any response regarding the news. But apparently, it seems like the short-durated video content that offers the users paid subscription doesn’t appear in all of the user’s accounts. The short-durated video content just appears in several random user’s accounts. So there’s a big possibility that TikTok will release this paid subscription publicly, all over their users, if the testing showed a big interest of the users towards the new paid subscription system.
The testing of TikTok’s new paid subscription system is done to diversify TikTok’s source of income since one of TikTok’s sources of income was shut down in Indonesia. The company also pushes ads and gifs to help to increase the company’s income.
