Bingkai Karya-Pamungkas just dropped his fifth album, “Hardcore Romance,” on August 21. The release was paired with a new single, “Fight Some More,” which is the main track for the album.
“Hardcore Romance” is a big step in Pamungkas’ music career. It represents a fresh start for him, returning to the essence of his music after a reflective six-year period since his debut album, “Walk The Talk” (2018).
Pamungkas shared, “I always tell the team, we’re starting from scratch again. Don’t think about how good things were yesterday, how far we’ve come. I’m now focused on continuing to create,”
A Collection of Personal Experiences
This new album shows how Pamungkas has been processing his emotions, viewing life moments with more wisdom, and trying to stay calm amid the fast pace of life. He aims to stay positive and calm despite life’s chaos. He described the album as a collection of his personal experiences, reflecting his growth and changing perspective over time.
“I’m a collector of feelings. So, you could say this album is a self-portrait of the moments I’ve gone through in life. If you follow my albums from the beginning, you’ll really feel the growth and change in perspective, from the lyrics to the choice of chords and melodies. And in this fifth album, ‘Hardcore Romance’ is a process of finding meaning in slowing down in this fast-paced era. Somehow, it balances me out as a person and makes me much happier and sleep better, even though there are still many thoughts running through my mind,” Pamungkas described his latest album.
Pamungkas wrote and produced the songs, played most of the instruments himself, and even handled the mixing. The mastering was done by Rhesa Aditya, while his brother Raden Rohan played the drums on the track “Putus.” This album harks back to Pamungkas’ roots as a self-reliant musician with limited resources.
Musically, “Hardcore Romance” features a lot of electric guitar work, particularly with the Stratocaster, giving the album a “hardcore” edge while also including sweet ballads to showcase the “romance” aspect. This mix of styles makes the album a rich and engaging listen.
