Bingkai Karya – Singaporean singer-songwriter Alicia DC has just dropped her second single of the year, “Circles.” The song explores the feeling of wanting to escape the endless cycles of life, whether it’s about leaving toxic circles or breaking free from bad habits. Alicia describes it as a powerful anthem for anyone feeling trapped or unsure of where to turn for help.
“It is about wanting to leave social circles, families and even bad habits. This is a song that hits the hardest when you realize that you are stuck in a loop once again, and face that feeling of suffocation with no clue of what to do, or who to turn to for help.”
She hopes “Circles” can provide comfort to those who are struggling, and the song’s production is a highlight, featuring a mix of quiet verses and lively band sounds to capture intense emotions.
Alicia made her debut in 2022 with her first EP, “Maybe,” created through the *SCAPE Music ALT. Residency program. She followed this up with a pop-focused EP called “Lovergirl.” Last year, she performed at major venues like the Esplanade and the Singapore Art Museum, and opened for Korean American R&B artist Hojean.
Recently, she joined a collective called New Mongrels to support local music and participated in their showcase. In December, she collaborated with Taiwanese singer June Pan on a fun track called “You Up?”
