Bingkai karya – The Jakarta-based emo band Killing Me Inside Re:union has made its comeback with the release of their latest single, “Senyawa dan Candu”. Following their last live performance in September last year and Onadio Leonardo’s three-month rehabilitation period, Killing Me Inside Re:union moved quickly with a new single that differs from their previous works. Senyawa dan Candu was written by Onad during his time in rehabilitation. The song carries a deeply personal story for Onadio Leonardo.

“This is my greatest form of regret for making a fatal mistake. During rehab, I didn’t know what to do, so I started writing songs again”, said Onadio Leonardo. “I’ve never made a song this personal before. It’s all about me”, he continued. Onad wrote both the music and lyrics for Senyawa dan Candu himself. Musically, the song was developed with the help of Raka, Sansan, and Rudye-former members who continue to support Killing Me Inside Re:union. Onad admitted that his bandmates immediately accepted the song, even though it was quite different from his previous works.

“They accepted it right away. ‘This is so you’, they said. We also haven’t made songs in Indonesian for a long time. In the end, they felt it was just right-personal, the timing was perfect, you had just come out of rehab, let’s go”, explained Onadio Leonardo. Through the single Senyawa dan Candu, Killing Me Inside Re:union also introduces a new era. Finally, after many years, listeners can hear a Killing Me Inside Re:union song in Indonesian. The trio also presents a new musical style that leans more toward pop, accompanied by brighter and more cheerful visuals.

“We want to rebrand again, like when we moved from The Tormented era to Biarlah. I feel this is the most fitting formula for Killing Me Inside Re:union, because we’ve always failed at making songs in Indonesian. Now it finally happened, and this is what we like. This is how pop Killing Me Inside Re:union sounds”, said Onadio Leonardo. Onad, Sansan, and Raka are not stopping with Senyawa dan Candu. There are still many plans lined up for this year that are worth looking forward to. “Killing Me usually releases singles all the time. It’s been a long while since we put out an EP-that’s one of the plans. What’s clear is that my priority this year is Killing Me Inside Re:union”, Onad concluded. Senyawa dan Candu was released on February 13, 2026, and is available on all major digital streaming platforms.
